Ocean Vases
September - November 2020
These glass vases were inspired by the ocean. The varying shades of blues and greens marbled into white mimic the diversity in bodies of water around the world. The process of flaring and pulling the edge of the vases feels as though I’m manipulating the tides. Each vase’s natural shape is influenced by the fluidity of glass making.
Throughout my glass career, I have come to the realization that I identify more as a craftswoman than as a fine artist. I find satisfaction in production work and repeated techniques. This collection is where my production background and my creative processes meet. Although each vase uses the same techniques and color palette, they all result in unique pieces of art.
